Hey,

After an evaluation at a psychiatrist, I got described to take Paroxetine 10 mg daily for my depression. However, im currently sitting here afraid to start taking them due to side effects. Anyone have any experience of taking Paroxetine? Did it work and what side effects did you experience?

I have been on as much as 40mg of Paroxetine and it did not help my depression but that is just me. I experienced insomnia, loss of sex drive, and possibly anhedonia.

Yes I've taken it...
It "worked" ok...
(Until I became allergic to it )

It does tend to cause weight gain, and usual side effects common to this class of med

I took it and really helped emotionally but made me so exhausted I could barely function during the day.

Took it for 2 years and it made no difference until I was up to 60 mg for about 3-6 months but even then I'm not sure that it really helped. Did not put on weight or feel any more exhausted than before. Just goes to show that everything is unique to each of us.

Best advice I can give you is to take as prescribed and if you notice any adverse reactions report to your Dr/PDoc. Not everyone suffers the standard contraindications and not everyone of us will get any benefit - you need to try, monitor and try increased dosage or something else.

Hoping the best for you.
