It's been a while since I posted due to some health issues ( gall bladder surgery) . much better now!
I've really been thinking the past couple of days about a lot of issues.
My youngest child has really been on my heart as I continue to process their transition from male to female.
It has been a struggle for a number of reasons. 1 I live in a small conservative town. so concerns for their safety. Don't care about reputation, that became a non issue a long time ago!
2. I attend a conservative baptist church. (Obviously no support/encouragement from that quarter!)
But, I decided from the first moment she told me; that it was a non issue for me. I love her and will always fight for her.

So, on to today. Yesterday was my 51st birthday... so I went and got a new tattoo.
It is a phoenix with the words " Made to Rise". I chose it to remind me that no matter how many times I crash and burn, I've got to get back up and rise and fly once more. Staying down in the ashes of my life is not an option. Time to head for the sun!

It is always hard for me to accept praise, so thank you for the encouragement. I just want all of us to realize that not every day is wonderful. I'm not always positive and encouraging. I get mad at God and tired of all the struggles that we're going through. But then I take a breath and remember that my focus is my family and what it takes to get us through this in one piece. We are adapting to our new normal and we're going to be ok. My family will never be the same, but hopefully we'll be more open, more loving , more kind to those around us.
