Hi everyone, I'm normally on the bipolar thread but I'd love to tap into the wisdom here...

I've been in a mild depression since my hypomania two weeks ago. I know that it's really hard to pull yourself out of a deep depression but any tips and tricks for kicking this mild one's a@@?

Sorry, I didn't read your post 'til now.
Exercise is a good one. Writing is another for some. I usually try to fix something or create something when I'm like this. Lately, I've been drawing a lot and writing/composing a lot of music. If you're into wood work, that's also a good one and something I did when I had access to shop equipment. Fixing a car, a cabinet and such.
What I'm basically saying is, if you can push yourself to stay somewhat busy and accomplish different things, it naturally uplifts your mood. Also, watching comedies and such are good, too. Humor is a great way of countering depression.

It's very likely. I don't do it much anymore but I was an actor and stand up comedian for a little while. I purposely auditioned for all of the comedy roles and such because making people laugh helped my depression lift ever so slightly. It's not professional anymore but I still make my friends laugh in an effort to achieve the same bi-product (it does).

Haha, we'll see in the future but as for now I don't know. I'm pretty self-conscious of it and my stand up material can get pretty offensive.

I'll tell you a couple of the cheesiest jokes I know:

Q. Why did the lady blush when she opened the fridge?
A. She saw the salad dressing.

Q. What's a pirate's favorite letter?
A. You'd think it's 'R' but it's actually the 'C'

Yeah, I cringed as I wrote those I hope you know. I don't think my old material was extremely funny (I'm pretty self-critical) but I sincerely doubt it was that bad, haha.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
