To date I have found no search topic regarding mental health challenges that I couldn't find first at PsychCentral.

I have found a number of great people in various groups on facebook. I've even started my own group focused on helping people overcome depression. The group is titled Cure Your Depression. It's brand new and I welcome anyone interested in it to join and participate.

You are the bomb!I know of no other forums and feel a need for no other. I believe I am going to love PsychCentral! Probably I need a “-s” to express his many dimensions development J as a human being), and from the Brancatan (co.uk) site or Andrew Vachss’ site or other great people that I love, admire for works and attitude like a person during their life. Too bad Mendeleev (oh, my God, WORD heard about… Mendeleev! “That was amazing!” Shall I check if they heard about Mangele too? Maybe it’s better not to! He wanted to be remembered as a brilliant mind no matter how much harm he did! And for that reason better not to be added, not even like an EVIL example!) We still have the dynamic “periodic table of elements” wonderful site as an updated, enchanted work of Mendeleev, connected to Wikipedia!
I wonder if Dr. Clay’s work COULD, and WOULD be transformed in something similar in every-day or self-help psychology science."

As a "Thank You" I just copied from my journal (I like to call it my Red Book :-)) I am sure Dr. Clay will understand my homage.

I found that livedepressionsupportgroup.com was helpful. I kind of like the anonymous chat sessions. Sometimes its easier to be unknown. And its free.

hi,im 44 left my 11yr old 3 times cause of depression she is with her dad.

i want to go home again but they wont let me
i went to therpist today they told me getting back with family would make me happy again.
i know now what i did is wrong
just need to figure out how to get them to trust me again???

  • Do not set difficult goals for yourself, or take on additional responsibility.
  • Break large tasks into small ones, set some priorities, and do what you can as you can.
  • Do not expect too much from yourself too soon, as this will only increase your feelings of failure.
  • Try to be with other people; it is usually better than being alone.
  • Force yourself to participate in activities that may make you feel better.
  • Try engaging in mild exercise, going to a movie, a ball-game, or participating in religious or social activities.
  • Don't overdo it or get upset if your mood is not greatly improved right away. Feeling better takes time.
  • Do not make major life decisions, such as changing jobs, getting married or divorced, without consulting others who know you well and who have a more objective view of your situation. In any case, it is advisable to postpone important decisions until your depression has lifted.
  • Do not expect to snap out of your depression. People rarely do. Help yourself as much as you can, and do not blame yourself for not being up to par.
  • Remember, do not accept your negative thinking. It is part of the depression and will disappear as your depression responds to treatment.
  • Get help from a professional. No matter how much you want to beat it yourself, a psychologist can help you recover faster.

I realize that this is an old post but I just had to say something. This is the best response I have read anywhere.

I have gone through years of depression and I can't even describe it here. I attempted suicide years ago. Without thinking of anything. And it was such an easy decision to make at the time.

I have heard of several different successful suicides by people that I did not know. After the news gets out people say that they understand the grief that this person must have felt or they say that there is no way that things could have been that bad. I even heard someone say how selfish this act is. They just do not get it. I deal with it every day again and no one can say they understand it if they have not been through it.

I have never been treated. I have never seen a doctor. Never even talked to anyone about it. But I can feel it. And I know what it is like.

Wow I cant thank you enough for sharing. I'm a therapist and I struggle with chronic depression and suicide almost daily... Now most people are going to judge and say how could I possible be a therapist and even provide help for people considering what I feel on a daily basis. Please don't judge me, I know boundaries and have dealt with these symptoms for long enough that I guess they are a part of me but never let it interfere with my patient therapy, plus my sessions are taped for supervision so if anyone had a clue to how I felt on the inside they surely wouldn't be able to tell at work. A lot of us just do what we have to do tom survive day to day and it shouldn't be that way but you can't tell society ommm I'm going to take a brake now cause I feel suicidal and chronically depressed ... Where getting out of bed feels almost impossible.

I can understand, but I think if the therapist or doctor actually believes you and is trying to understand it makes a difference.

Do those hotlines ever work? I've never tried them before. But I can't imagine the person on the other side truthfully sympathizing with me, especially since I don't feel I deserve it anyway.
