Depression is not a stranger to many of us. Most people go through cycles in their life where it seems like everything that can go wrong does go wrong. We get caught in a valley and it is hard sometimes to see a way out.
Most people are plagued with the thought that there is nothing that they can do to make their life better; that they are not good enough.
It's a hard place to be in and an even harder place to get out of.
One of the first steps to getting out of depression is realizing you are worthy and capable and can make your life better. A person has to believe in themselves first.
There are self confidence forums out there that have a lot of videos and articles that can help a person learn how to believe in themselves and get themselves better so that they can get out of their depression and take control of their lives.

The article on depression was very interesting. It certainly described my life very well and helped explain to me the shame I have felt with my depression. I believe the more I educated and understand my depression, the more I am helped. Thanks for the link.

Mental Earth, DBSA, Depression Forum are all very good. DBSA has very good articles & info on mental heath relating just to depression and bipolar disorder.

There a site for meds that's kind of interesting called www.crazymeds.us . There are forums for medications and info from patients.

i understand about not feeling loved and feeling alone.i always feel like something is missing to.i dont know how to stop this feeling.

I'm not sure I'm cut out for this whole "daily" thing but things have been going better than last time. Getting a few things done helps my motivation and confidence, though this past week my memory has been shocking. I read about loss of memory in depression being due to a lack of ability to focus, which I guess is true. I feel so stresses out I'm not remembering what happened... That's certainly not a way to live.

BioHazard...You sure got my attention about forgetting things because being unable to focus....Sometime, when Ive been alone too long, eveything is so sureal.

Hi I have been attending depression workshops recommended to me. The person who runs them, Steven Turnbull, has a great track record of getting people out of depression although that is not his main line of business. He is a motivational speaker and sports psychologist. I am finding the workshops are helping me a lot. I am also reading a book that he has written called Live a motivated life. I actually cant put it down and feel that it may help others on here. There are lots of great motivational stories and techniques in it to help people get motivated, stay motivated and motivate others. It is easy to read. I got mine at a workshop but I think you can get them on his website at professionalmotivation.co.uk Hope this helps someone.

There's a place in my area called the Women's Hearth. They have three women's AA meetings there a week--and all kinds of resources.

I don't know of many resources most of the time I know
of teen resources to help out the teens in need. Since no one helped me nor
cared about me when I was a teen.
Can't say I agree with one of the members phone number on Homosexual Anonymous?
I'm offended.

I have to say that I don't know allot about this yet & I can't seem to find anyone who does. But there is a website called "AllBlackClothes". As I understand it, it is targeted at African Americans who have mental illness, although everyone is welcome. Apparently the primary thing they do is to provide opportunties for live chats among members through something called "Chatanga". I'm not familiar with this either.

"AllBlackClothes" also has a channel on YouTube which is where I came to be aware of them. I've been encouraged to join & I may go ahead & do that.

I have found that the Clearview Treatment Programs website and blog are really helpful (you can access their blog from their main website). Their blog has a lot of information on how to cope with depression, and tons of articles on "What to do if..." and so on. I really think it's a great resource to help people understand addiction and depression, along with many other disorders. Check it out for yourself, I know it has helped me tremendously over the years.
