I am due to see my care coordinator in the morning. I know I need to be honest about how low I am feeling right now, but I never know how to get the words out.

There are so many things I probably should mention, but I don’t even know where to start. I also don’t want to say so much that she feels the crisis team need to be involved, I can’t handle that.

I know I need help, because every day is just getting worse now. But I also know I will just be blamed for this as I am not helping myself. I need to not be so damn self destructive, but it’s the only thing that helps.

I wish I knew what to suggest here. I know how you feel about this though. Expressing how I'm doing has always been a problem for me as well. Most of the time I would just slap a smile on my face & say I'm okay no matter how bad I felt.

I think what I would consider doing is to try to write out what I thought I would want to say. That would give me time to consider how whatever I might say would be likely to come across & make changes as necessary. It's much easier, for me at least, to think in writing than it is to try to come up with the right words "in the heat of the moment", so to speak. Good luck with your appointment.

I agree with Skeezyks that writing things down might be helpful. It would also give the cc an opportunity to give a more “well thought out” response. It also may “save time” which no doubt the cc would like (as in being more “time efficient”)

(I’m thinking of my experiences with rushed medics (5 minute appointments ) .. I’ve found on the occasions I write down my concerns, edit them etc.. they are less likely to give a stupid and unhelpful response )

Let us know how it goes

Edit.. I just noticed the time of your post. I hope it went ok

Hope everything went fine. If not, writing it down next time can be a good idea. Or even just thinking about what you want to say can be a good option..

It went ok, managed to tell her the important stuff. It was easier than expected, she asked questions relevant to what I wanted to bring up so I could just answer them rather than volunteering the information. It hasn’t changed anything, but she is aware at least.
