I was wondering what catatonic depression was. I was also wondering why there is no such thing as disorganized depression. Would you please explain that to me?

I'm not a doctor so please keep that in mind as you read this. Catatonic depression is an old diagnosis that isn't used much any more. It was defined as depression that resulted in the person not speaking or moving for long periods of time. Essentially being unresponsive and dead to the world. It was thought to be due to neurotransmitters in the brain being out of balance or not working properly. While catatonic states are still recognized as a diagnosis in psychiatry, catatonic depression as a diagnosis has fallen out of use.
I'm sorry, I don't know a thing about "disorganized depression". I hope you find the answers you need |

Maybe someone can help in the Q and A forum, or Ask a Therapist.
