Like, in the moment it's honestly hilarious and no one else seems to get it because it's like your own little personal inside joke with yourself.

"You're a little hard on yourself, aren't you?"

I honestly laughed and nodded. Looked as crazy as I feel, I bet. All the while thinking in my head, 'You know what, I think I am! Oh, thank heavens above someone noticed. It's a revelation.'

I know the guy was being genuine, which is why I kept the thoughts to myself, but it was funny to me, for no real reason.

Anybody else ever do this? I really feel like a ****, either to people around me or to myself; I'm not sure.

Yes. People say stupid obvious things. I like it better when they know that I am not always ok and stable, it's a perfect opportunity for a dark joke
Thanks for this!

Right?! There's such opportunity there and you just can't go there with certain people. I'm lucky to have a couple friends who enjoy it.

I was in line at 1 am at Walmart and this dude in line was being a **** to the cashier so I told him to shut up. I mean, come on, woman's just doing her job and isn't the creator of store policy. So, anyway, we exchange a few words with each other and then he says, "Would you just go and die?"

I pointed at my neck, "Tried that, didn't sit well with me." (I have a huge scar on my neck from surgery where they had to remove a tumor.) "Any more questions, or can we be done with it so that you can let this woman do her job?" Honestly, he didn't know what to do. He just shut up, whispered some profanity and left. I'm not sure how humorous this was but it had the dude behind me rolling. He gave me a high-five before I finished checking out.

I give them the stink eye and ask them if their mother had any children that lived.
