My neighbors are having a party. They're pretty loud, and around my age. It brings back a lot of old feelings of feeling left outside, of loneliness and not fitting in. Also it makes me feel like I'm out of touch with other people, particularly people my age. They just sound so carefree, spontaneous, energetic and SO joyful. All of the things I can't find in myself anymore. It both makes me sad and irritated with them. Plus, I often think they're talking about me; I know that sounds ridiculous, I just get the feeling sometimes.

How do you feel in these situations? Does it bother you at all? Now I'm settled, trying to block everything out with earbuds and trying to read. I hope you all have a good night.

Sorry you feel so left out. I hope nothing but the best for you. Good luck.

I very much feel that way. At this time of year there's not much going on, which is really nice. But when it gets warmer, then there are parties in houses next door to me. I put up with the noise and feel left out. Whenever I see parties going on (friends and family together) I always think to myself, "how does it happen?" I have never been invited to things like that. A couple of times I have gone to parties and felt that I wasn't having a great time.

I used to feel the same as you, always felt left out when other people were having fun.

Nowadays I've accepted that I'm just not a party person, so when my neighbours are having a party I only feel annoyed at the loud music. (Those low bass tones making my floor and walls shake.... Can't stand it! Really makes me feel stressed.)
