my Black Dog

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

He did not come from the pound,
The breeder or the shop,
He just materialized ,
And beside me he did flop.

He has no bowl, no cosy basket bed,
no toys, no bones no lead,
He remains unfettered,
For these things he has no need.

He has no licence ,he has no name,
I have not given him one,
He arrived uninvited, never does he play a game,
Occasionally he will go but back does he always come.

He is of medium size ,
No pedigree no specific breed,
He is wiry coated and doe eyed,
No feeding no walking does he need.

He never barks or utters any sound,
under the bed? in the washing ? on the sofa ?,
He is just there alert , awake ,waiting ,watching,
Black dog just follows me around.... 01/04/17.

like a small boat on the ocean ,
sending big waves into motion
like how a single word,
can make a heart open,
I might have only one match
But i can make an Explosion !

Wow I can relate to this so much. I struggle to get poetry most of the time, not this one.

Winston Churchill often described his own depression as a black dog.
