Okay first, I want to start this off with, this isn't a suicidal post/ideation or anything like that. And well.... Anyone with depression don't read? Okay that sounds real weird but I think- I HOPE- this is just some thought I need dispelled or advice I need. I don't want to get anyone thinking the same thing and-
this whole thing is one big contradiction- but the truth is I need help. And that help from an outside source. Basically I've been hearing the same thing lately, from my close friends and my counselor. Years of dealing with depression I've heard all the coping mechanisms. Actually haven't heard a new- healthy- one in years. And I attempt every single one of them. I am on medications and they work most of the time- key word: most. I'm rambling. Here's the problem: Knowing and doing all coping mechanisms there have been more times where they fail me. Same with medication. Honestly, its gotten to a point where I've been told by my friends, counselor and even doctor that there is nothing that can be done but wait it out. And for the most part I accepted that. Tonight though, it really crushed me. I just wanted to ask someone, anyone if they knew something different. if there was possibly a different answer that could be found. Anyway, that's all. Please and thank you guys. |

There is a Tibetan Buddhist tradition called "Lojong" which translates as "mind training". Although there are many authors writing within the Lojong tradition, the standout one for me is the American Buddhist nun Pema Chödrön. Her book: Start Where You Are- A Guide to Compassionate Living is my user's manual, so to speak. (See my bio, here on PC, for additional insight.) Lojong is what I have adopted as an alternative to mainstream mental health services. One doesn't have to become a Buddhist to put the Lojong teachings into practice.
![]() I've been on antidepressants in the past. They mostly just made me groggy. I don't take them anymore. I tried seeing a few different therapists. They ranged from mediocre to dreadful! ![]() Anyway... one of the "practices" within the Lojong tradition is referred to as "Compassionate abiding". Here's a mental-health-oriented description of the practice: https://mindsetdoc.wordpress.com/201...e-abiding-101/ May it be of benefit. ![]()

Change in diets with the right vitamin and mineral values for instance, can help cure the depression, too.
Blood testing, you can find the lacking materials in your blood. It has an effect on the brain. |
