I'm dealing with a divorce (having to move back in with parents) as well as losing my job. Now I feel like I have no friends to support me. I would slowly isolate myself from everyone except my ex just like he wanted. I set up my first visit with a counselor which went well, but we only meet once a week. Anyone have any suggestions on how I can find additional support? Like some type of meeting or something like that?

Hello Ohxpoorxme: I'm sorry you are feeling so isolated. Hopefully coming here to PC can be of some comfort & support. One thing, here on PC, that may help is to participate in some of the "chats" where you can interact with other members in real time. You'll need to have 5 posts reviewed & approved before you can take part in these. But that is easily accomplished. Here's a link to the event calendar:

https://forums.psychcentral.com/calendar.php

As far as meetings & that sort of thing in your area goes, the only thing I could suggest would be to contact any mental health organizations in your area & ask what might be available. Of course if you're in a metropolitan area there are likely to be more options available than if you're in a small town or a rural area. You could also call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline 1 (800) 273-8255. One doesn't have to be suicidal to call. They advertise they're there to help with any problem. And I believe, when you call, your call is routed to a crisis intervention service in your area. So they may know what, if anything, might be available. Perhaps other members, here on PC, will have some other suggestions as well.

I see this is your first post here on PC. So... to PsychCentral… from the Skeezyks! May the time you spend here be of benefit.

PsychCentral is a great place to get information as well as support for mental health issues. The more you post, & reply to other members’ posts, the more a part of the community you will become. Plus there are social groups you can join & (again) chat rooms where you’ll be able to connect with other PC members in real time (once your first 5 posts have been reviewed & approved.) Lots of great stuff! So please keep posting!

That can't be easy for you going through all that! As said above, this site is excellent for a bit of extra support. There's always someone here to hear you out! And it is good to write out the things that are going through your mind

There's also another site that I have used a fair bit over the years. It's called 7 cups of tea. Basically anyone can sign up for it and it's free! There's the listener side, and member side. Listeners are there to listen, and they're just every day people - there are still some basic tests that everyone has to complete to become a listener though.
But yeah, I personally would recommend it for some support between sessions, just don't be afraid to sift through a few listeners until you find a decent fit, there are some not so good ones there! www.7cups.com

Hope this is of some help and that things get better for you soon
