After my crisis yesterday my doctor added Abilify. I react to medication very rapidly and it is already working. Any side effects or negative or positive experiences you've had? Thank you.

I've never taken it myself. But ive heard and read real good things about it. Its supposed to be weight neutral. Very effective for depression. it is considered sort of the safest of all antipsychotics. I hope it helps real soon.

My husband takes it, he experiences nausea as a side effect but he's also on other meds so it might not be from the ability alone. Other than that no complaints from him

Ability is a very different beast some find it sedating others find it activating at the same dosage level, there has been a warning issued on it as well as federal action in the courts that it can cause a severe need to compulsively gamble , people have gambled away everything in there life including cars and homes , when it first was released they prescribed 30 to 45 MG a day , much like Haldol they have found in many cases less is more effective , so it's now generally 5 MG starting , and as with all atypical anti psychotics, have labs done before starting it and regularly well on it , or if any symptoms are worrisome , because all atypical can have an associated metabolic syndrome with them, this can lead to diabetes and other things , so carefull monitoring is in order .
