Hi Everyone,
I'm new here and new to therapy. I have been in counseling since May for depression. My therapist and I have agreed that it's time to try adding antidepressants. I have an appointment with my doctor on Thursday, and of course I've been reading online. Most of what I have found are stories about horrible side effects and the meds not working. I'm hoping some of you can share some positive feedback about your antidepressants. Thanks so much! |

They've helped me so much. I've been on antidepressants consistently for about 3 years now and the advantages have definitely outweighed any costs. I've taken Wellbutrin for 3 years, increasing the dosage throughout and I haven't experienced any side effects. Before Wellbutrin, i tried Zoloft & had a sexual side effect that made me want to switch to another drug. Everyone's different so you'll probably have to undergo trial and error at first to see what's best for you as well, but you WILL be fine! I wish you the best & take care.

I take 40mg of celexa each morning and it works well for me but I also feel like regular exercise helps me just as much, if not more than, the anti-depressant. I highly recommend exercise to anyone suffering from depression, as some studies have shown that it can be as effective as an anti-depressant in treating depressive symptoms. I am by no means anti-medication but rather pro-exercise, plus it doesn't come with any negative side effects and is free to do!

Thanks so much. Wellbutrin is what I think I'd like to try because I'm worried about weight gain--something I struggle with already.

Thanks so much. Exercise was the first thing my therapist recommended but it doesn't seem to be helping me much.
