Still wondering why I'm here. . . . it's hard for me to know what my purpose is at 56. I feel invisible. Nobody would know this, because it's all inside. Anybody out there?>

I think we all wonder that from time to time. What is my purpose? What is the point? Yes I know that feeling well. You have brought up your children and you are a nurse. Those are a couple of really positive things there. And there must be other things you would like to do in the future? Anyway, I know how it is. Yes, I've got two grown children. . . .and I have been a nurse. Sounds great. . .doesn't it? I was always the one that had plans. . . to marry, have children, have a job, and etc. It feels like I've completed all my major goals. Almost all of my family has died within the past five years. I feel lonely and lost. It just seems like in the past three years I have shut off. . . . I keep to myself although I'm lonely. Go figure!!?? Thank you for your note. . . please stay in touch.

(((HAYSEED))). I am sorry that you are struggling at this time. Many people feel the empty nest syndrome when your children get grown. Sometimes you just have to find other things to put your effort into when there is more time on your hands than what you can fill. There are many things that are available such as volunteering and helping in your community. Volunteermatch is a good site to find a volunteer job if you are interested and also the library is usually a good place to start if you only have a few hours to contribute weekly. Taking a class is good as well if you have the time. take care Hayseed. Soidhonia

Well, put in these terms, probably no one of us has a purpose. Now I know that it is just easy to say but hard to do, but you should think what you'd like to do, and do it.
But searching a purpose OUTSIDE of you means to disregard yourself... to stay and enjoy the day could be purpose enough. By the way, I too have a problem to feel rewarded for OBJECTIVE achievements that anybody else recognizes. I'm praise-proof. |

I used to have a purpose I thought. I used to be a wife, a Pastors wife with lots of friends and responsibilities. Now I am a single mom struggling to get through the day. With a child with an exhausting disability that isn't helping me.
