I wonder to myself sometimes who I would be if I didn't exist with this crippling Depression.

More than depression defines me, but I would be deceiving myself if I said depression plays no role in defining me.

I'm sorry. It's awful isn't it?

No one really knows who they will be or where life will take them. Not anyone, depression or no.

But what if? ... what if? ... that's the rumination kicking in.

That's the comparisons too. And worst of all, probably to a mythical, near perfect alter-ego that we imagine in our mind.

Goodness knows, I've done enough of that over the years.

Is there anything you can do to shake it off right now? Is there any way to be gentle or kind to yourself?

I ruminate on that sometimes as well. I also compare the Wonder Woman I was pre illness and the person I am now and wonder where I'd be now if I didn't get sick. It's pointless though. All we can do is work with now. Sending big hugs.
