I may not be posting this in the right area of the forum but I'm confused.
I've been taking bupropion (generic Wellbutrin) for a good little while now, and when I was taking 150mg, I slept better, felt less depressed, was more apt to do things, etc. But my doctor insisted I move on up to 300mg. Ever since I switched I have had trouble staying asleep, wake up still feeling exhausted & no real success with dealing with anything. The 150mg was for a little over a month (I was afraid to go up for a while) This happen to anyone else? |

Hi. I have had difficulties in the past with going up in medication. For me, it was for anxiety, and not depression reasons though. When I was on Lexapro (Cipralex in Canada), when I increased the dose from 10-15mg, I started to have daily panic attacks, and when I decreased it, they went away. So I do know that sometimes, too much medication does cause more harm than good. Each person's needs are different. I tend to be on really low doses for medicine, and they work quite well for me. Doctors are quite surprised about this, but it's just how I am.
I do think this did also happen when I went on Luvox. I was on a low dose for 2 weeks, and then increased it, and then
Possible trigger:
So yes, I do believe this is possible. I would suggest you tell your doctor, and go back to a lower dose, if possible. Best of luck. Also, this is my own experience, I am by no means a doctor.

300 of Wellbutrin is definately too much for me. I get really aggitated and can't sleep. Please talk to your doctor about this. If 150 works better for you than that is your decision to make not theirs.

I am trying to find a new doctor asap so I can talk to them about all this. I'm thinking 300 is too much for me as well. If I close my eyes I get dizzy also. Not sure it's related but it happens.

Have you talked to your current doctor about the problems you are having? Just because he "insists" doesn't mean you have to do it. You can also insist that 300 mg is too much for you.

My doctor quit recently, no prewarning, nothing. I was redirected to a male Dr, but I prefer female for my own reasons.

I found Welbutrin too activating altogether. It made me anxious, but did not relieve depression.

I would talk to your current Dr about lowering it back and also explain why and I would explain how you are feeling worse. Hopefully he or she listens to you.

I'm sorry to hear that your pdoc quit. I hope your new pdoc is a good fit who helps you transition back to 150 mg. Good luck.

I'm sorry to hear you're going through so much with your meds. Since I assume you are taking generic meds, I thought this article might be useful. It talks about the very loose FDA requirements for generic medication manufacturers. I'm not a conspiracy theorist nor am I a Dr. Oz fanatic. I've heard what he says in this article from other disparate resources, but he sums it all up very nicely. It's important for those of us taking generic medications to keep this in mind. I hope things get better for you soon.
