I have needed to be the rock for family for so long, it is difficult for me to admit to anyone that I am not strong...

My brother has a significant disability and the rest of my family memebers are ill. Two grandparents are also about to pass. All of this has taken its toll on me as I am premed, working full time, and doing observation hours. I’ve had to consistently call in late to my work due to stress and being overwhelmed

I feel like it is easier to go rather than continue........I’ve gotten this far, but it doesn’t really matter anymore. I’m always going to be fighting.

What makes you think you will "always" fight?

This sounds like a crushing burden. I hope that in some way you will be able find the inner strength you need to overcome...

Is it possible that you are experiencing exhaustion or burnout and that this is contributing to your depression or hopelessness? I’m sorry you are having a tough time. It doesn’t sound like you have time to recover or to practice self care let alone time to see a therapist but it might be worth looking into. If not that, possibly a psychiatrist to see about medication to give you some relief? I hope you feel better soon. Thinking of you.
Thanks for this!

Hi all, thanks for the help. I am doing slightly better. Still really stressed & depressed though. I really do think it’s burnout. I don’t know how to cope or handle it. I feel like nothing is new which may be a symptom of burnout.

Crypts,

I don’t think I’ve ever had a break my entire life with my health problems and making sure my family is ok.

Not really no.

As a side note, going to visit my family tomorrow in another state and it’s going to be more stress unfortunately. Going to see one grandparent.

I really think you need to set time aside just for you to focus on you - even if its only a few days

I agree. I have never been on a legitimate vacation in my life.

Start planning for one - doesn't even need to be extravagant. Just something simple, inexpensive, that lets you relax n unwind. ❤
