About 2 years ago now I had ECT treatments. I under went the treatments for 5 months before I stopped. At first it was three times a week but the last month I was only going for treatments twice a week.

I didn't finish the treatments because family situations required me to leave the area for awhile. We I got back hurricane Wilma had just blown through and treatments were the last thing on my mind.

As I remember the treatments were numbing. I don't remember feeling better from them. I could almost function so I guess there was improvement.

Between the depression, my med cocktail, and the treatments I have lost 25+ years of my life. Usually if at all a patient will have only short term memory loss.

As much as I swore I would never do it again, there are times when numb seems better. I have even discussed the possibility with my pdoc.

I wiish you much success if you decide to continue the treatments.

i have thought and thought about doing the ect treatments, too. the thing that makes me afraid is that my brain is already damaged from a stroke i had 2 years ago. even though i know it's considered "safe" now (not like what you see in movies or here about ects done years ago - they have improved over the years). still, i'm just leery.
