A nice thing I remember is when someone said they thought I brought the best potluck dish

I grew up with no one cooking...it’s been a long road.

How about you?

That's really tough to remember. I've always thought if someone was nice to me there must be something in it for them.

But there was a time when I was afraid of a humongous spider (only kidding, it was small) and my grandpa squashed it with his bare hands and told me to not be scared of them. I thought he was like Superman

I was told a couple times that I was one of the nicest people that person met. That made me feel good, and good about my self.

Back when I was in high school, I had this teacher that took me under his wing a little. He helped me, guided me, joked with me and wouldn't allow me to put myself down. I remember I worked my *** off for the first time ever in academics and came out with really good grades and an A in his class. He took me aside and told me he was proud of me. Him saying that still means the world to me.

I’ve had several people tell me I’m pleasant to be around. I appreciate that.

I think the nicest thing ever said to me was that hearing my story inspired them and gave them hope.

Which is why no matter how much my family may want me to, I will never stop telling it.
