All of the above, about people with Depression or other MH issues ... at times it’s hard not to despair about the apparent lack of progress in society..

A rather “typical” thoughtless comment, from a MH sufferer... “a lot of people think people with x .. are “weak” ..... (heavy sigh and yawn) (who cares what those ignorant and foolish people may or may not think )

I find deeper, more thoughtful words more helpful..

A brief example..

“Individual and collective attitudes about x form under the influence of the language we choose in defining it. The incendiary and provocative remarks and opinions, whether intentional or thoughtless, commandeer our attention. We may respond to them, we may despair of them. But it may be the squadron of subtleties and nuances of language flying under our radar that does more to impede the development of healthy outlooks about .. x...”

(From 10 things every child with autism wishes you knew)

(I also think this applies to unhelpful labelling of self and / or others. Having “grown up” in a FOO of malignant narcissists, I don’t find such labels “helpful” - and yes of course I know malignant narcissism is also a label but it actually means something unlike “weak” etc when someone attempts to use such a stupid poor word to describe a human being. )

(Not about anyone on pc)
