A parent or parents who "expect" their child to "parent" them might regard a three-year-old being a three-year-old as "selfish". ???

Depression is indeed, a selfish disorder, because it's only oneself who really gets to experience it's full awfulness all of the time.
And 3 year olds are almost by definition going to fit the selfish profile from time to time & any parent who doesn't recognise that and gently guide the child, is in need of some parental common sense... |
