Sometimes I feel as though I am making up my depression. Perhaps I am depressed to get attention.Which is ridiculous, because I don't tell anyone about my depression. I am a fake.

Your not making it up, nobody would choose to feel depressed if they had a choice
Thanks for this!

I very much doubt that you’re making it up. I don’t know of anyone who posts here in Depression for “fun”

Hello & Welcome, Everyday12.

I have had times - hours, days - when the depression felt unreal, and I was perplexed at its apparent existence. At those times I considered the possibility I was faking it or using depression to get some sort of social "payoff."

Over time too much evidence of depression's reality has accumulated for me to doubt it.
