I've been diagnosed with major depression since my twenties (now in my mid 60's) with some tough spots using antidepressants. Recently after using Sertraline at max dose for over ten years it stopped having effect. I'm working with an NP to get back on something that will work but life in the meantime is difficult, meaningless and empty. I started poking around the web using the word stressors and it led to major life stressors where each is given a number in order of difficulty. This is the aha moment. I moved to this area over seven years ago and have had nine major life stressors in that time frame eg moving, readjusting to a new area, unable to find a job and more. But this is an improvement since I'm no longer dealing with an 'unknown' in working with my therapist. It sure would be nice to finally have some way to mitigate these stressors life is hard enough without them and hope to make some headway knowing this. Just an FYI...

((((riptide53)))) I'm sorry you're struggling so much. I hope you'll be able to find a good med combination soon. In the meantime, remember that we're here for you.

Isolation worsens my symptoms and its a struggle to get out, although I force myself to. Maybe volunteering someplace where you see some friendly faces who look forward to whatever helping hand you can provide might help you too. Hang in there.
