Everyone with mental illness just suffers, unable to know it's their illness causing their suffering. Not in all cases, I cannot claim that, but it's surely a thing.

What's even worse, they're not bad people. They're ill. They need help. But, I am not a mental health statistician, I believe most mentally ill people will never receive adequate help, especially in the developing countries where people aren't even aware mental health is a thing.

We need more awareness, more research, more effective treatments and more understanding...

This is exactly what we need TLC.

And more support for those who need it.

If our body gets sick, people offer sympathy but if your brain has a fault then we are treated as if we were responsible for it. CBT is to blame in part for this and it isn't the answer to all MI.

Exactly, Thirty Shades! There's just so much misunderstanding in the world about mental health. We're viewed as "crazy", "<curse word>" all because we are ill and guess what? There's nothing that can be done about it, as we'll never have an effective treatment available if we just ignore the stigmatization and discrimination against us. Hell I don't expect anyone, even the person suffering to not blame themselves, for their illness.

We are a lost cause on account of those who fail to find us a cure!

Please don't blame us for the lack of treatment available!

Your a credit to our plight TLC.

(((((Thirty Shades and Chemist)))))

You are both a credit to everyone suffering from MI

Part of it though is the fact the "professionals" tend to play the blame game, I speak from experience

They reckon we "choose" to feel the way we do and we "choose" our symptoms (sp)

((((Everyone)))) You're all absolutely right. The day this stigma will end will be a great day. Our mind is just as important as our body... and it can get sick, too.

I've always said how nice it would be if we could reach a day when MI isn't stigmatised at all

I don't think that will be in my lifetime and I find that sad
