Hello folks,
I typically do not use a journal but I found a very interesting one called 52 Lists for Happiness. There is a list for each week of the year but I think it can be completed in any way people choose. The lists are designed to "inspire and encourage people from all walks of life, to harness their inner wisdom, strength and self love through list making."

So, I'm going to start my 52 Lists and I'll post pieces on the forum for anyone who would like to participate and share their own lists. There are also great action cues which come with every list to help you increase your happiness level.

List 1: List what makes you happy right now (no requirement for length of list)

- sharing this new idea for happiness with folks from PC
- listening to my coffee-maker bubble and crackle
- daylight
- writing with an inky pen

List 1 Action cue: How often do you actually get to experience these things? Just like learning to read, gaining the wisdom and experience of happiness takes practice. Let's start now. Take one item on your list and see how you can turn it into a daily practice of happiness.

52 Lists for Happiness

List 2: List the routines in your personal life and work.

Action Cue: circle all of the routines that bring you joy, and cross out all the routines you dislike. What is it about the circled routines that bring you joy?

**I'm going to come back to this list at a later point but folks are welcome to post if they'd like to share their routines

52 Lists for Happiness

List 3: list the things that you are really good at.

Action cue: underline the things that you had to work for to become good at, and circle the things that you feel come naturally to you. Do any of these things overlap? Just like happiness, it's already within you. It takes practice to experience daily.

List 5
List the best choices you have made in your life so far.

moving to a new land
adopting a holistic approach to my health
deciding to love and honor my Self
choosing to work on my "happiness skills"
choosing light, love, and hope over darkness, anger, or despair
employing the 52 Lists for Happiness notebook
getting divorced
dedicating my career to the work of caring for others
practicing doing things alone as often as possible
choosing to indulge, protect, and monitor my inner child
seeking and embracing psychotherapy
taking time to trust and love my current S.O.
regular meditation
going on adventures
distancing myself from dysfunctional family members
working on my spiritual development
being more selective about which friends I spend time with
developing my work-life balance

Action Cue: Take five minutes each morning this week to reflect on your list before you start your day. You have so much to take joy in; trust your inner wisdom.

It actually amazed me when I started the list...I was surprised by the length of it...I didn't even include the whole thing on PC When I'm depressed, I unintentionally focus on everything I feel I've gotten wrong. Sometimes I don't even realize I'm doing it until my significant other says: "Stop being so critical of yourself...you always do your best!" He's very supportive. I really think the "52" notebook is helping me. Hope it helps you too Jennifer. You deserve happiness!

Ps. there's another notebook from the same creator and it's designed to help people deepen their connections to others. I might buy that one too some day when I've earned a treat

List 6: List the things (from your past and present) that feel like blockades in the way of happiness.

lack of work-life balance
self-doubt
fear
staying in negative situations too long - feeling stuck
loneliness
feeling angry or fearful about my family

Action cue: Look back at List 5 and see if any of your past great decisions can influence how you handle the things that currently stand in the way of your happiness.

Thanks for all of your wonderful contributions to our thread! Please add your list number when you post so everyone knows which of the 52 lists you're sharing. I think I've posted up to #5 or #6 by now. Order doesn't matter of course but it's fun to know the number when we read your posts
