I will no longer be participating in this forum because I can no longer take the doctor-bashing (or "health care provider" if you prefer). I see it over and over again. Doctors 1)don't care about their patients 2) are only in it for the money 2) Routinely commit criminal acts such as altering records 4) are actively out to harm their patients for some unknown reason, and on and on and on.

Well, guess what I have been doing for a living for the last 32 years. I am a family practice doctor. I have done the absolute best that I could for all of my patients for all this time and have no intention of ever stopping being a caring, attentive provider with my patients' best interests at heart.

I have tried to ignore all this and understand where people are coming from. But I have come here for support and how can I get that from a group of people that hate me for what I do? Talk about triggering my depression! Oh yeah, doctors aren't supposed to be depressed are they?

Well, this is devolving into a rant rather than the rational explanation I was going for but I am not going to edit anything. I wish you all the best in the future and I will find my support elsewhere.

I’m sorry you have had that experience here and that it is driving you away. There are many wonderful, caring people on PC and it’s unfortunate that you’ve been running into something else.

If I can ever been of help or support please let me know. If you choose not to remain here, I hope you find a forum that supports you.

Warm wishes.

I'm so sorry to read this Monticello. Are you referring to leaving the depression forum or PC in general?

There should not be ANY bashing of any sort on a forum which is designed to support people. That includes doctors. Doctors are people too. I work in healthcare and I've had plenty of wonderful MDs as my colleagues. I am perplexed as to why doctor-bashing is considered okay on PC. Folks with mental health problems need to be able to consult with their doctors. Sending out messages that all doctors are bad and untrustworthy is not okay and actually dangerous.

I don't know what else to say. I too am shocked by the level of anger and bitterness which is flagrantly displayed by some (not all) on PC.

If I can be of any support, please let me know Monticello. Please know that many of us, including me, are grateful for the care we have received from great MDs. I believe that PC would be better with you here. The PC and non-PC worlds are lucky to have caring physicians like yourself.

I’m in desperate need of doctors Monticello, I don’t think anything bad of them, just I suffer from mental illness and at times when it’s worse I wish my PDOC would really try to fix me. But I appreciate him very much, like many others in your profession.

I am a pharmacy student.

I hate some doctors, as well as I hate some pharmacist!

There are health care providers, like you, who truly care and want to help, and then there are assholes that only want to earn more money. I love when I see another health care provider that truly cares about his patient, I doubt anyone hates you, and in case someone does by the mere fact you are a doctor, that person is deeply mistaken.

Wow, talk about overreacting! No one is talking about family practice doctors as I recall. Have had my disorder, one of the more complicated ones, for so many years. I am relatively high functioning w 3 degrees and worked my whole life, hiding or faking thru my episodes. Tho I have had this disorder probably for at least 40 years, I still feel I don’t have the right meds because I can only get 15 min sessions w my pdoc. I cant take antipsychotics which they are now using for bipolar so I still have episodes of confusion where I cant add numbers together during a bad episode when I have a lot of stress in my life and the anti depressives keep pushing me up too high. Yes, coping skills are vital. We cant expect meds alone to be the magic bullet . All the therapists I have had(a lot) mostly just sit there. Venting is important but I have asked for more structure like goal setting many times. I have to say my current t is the best Ive had but still no goal setting. I THINK THE SYSTEM (INS COS)AND CURRENT TRAINING IS LARGELY TO BLAME. And doctor, do you really think that 15 minutes is enough time to spend w a patient? I don’t know about other towns, but my husband (diabetes and cardiomyopathy) and my woman friend have experienced out and out malpractice and neglect. Specialists don’t talk to each other or coordinate with you family practice folks. I just tried to get a concierge doctor because this is becoming too much for me as advisor/caregiver to my husband but they are only in the rich suburb which is too far for us. Don’t take yr marbles and go home. Give us some suggestions as someone who understands the medical profession.

I'm sorry you have found PC to be unsupportive. There are so many places on the internet where people can be just downright mean, it would be great if PC could be a consistently reliable refuge in the storm. Apparently that's not necessarily always the case. I hope, should you decide to leave us for good, you will be able to find the support you seek wherever you may find yourself next .

My family doctor is awesome! He initially diagnosed my depression 30 years ago. He has stood by me and helped me find the best medicines to manage my depression. He is a very caring person and I greatly respect him.

I am so sorry you feel this way and want to leave us. I hope you stay and I am sorry that you feel attacked as a medical provider. I am in the healthcare industry and work a lot with doctors and physician assistants and I think the world of all of you. What hurts is that people tend to forget doctors and PA's are human and do sometimes make mistakes.

I saw that you were a family doctor; I honestly think the world of mine; I wouldn't be the person typing this message today if it wasn't for him believing everything and helping me. He also caught medical issues that other providers have missed. I would honestly be lost without him and my Cardiologist; both of them are great and have worked so hard to help me.

I really hope you decide to stay; I am here most of the time if you ever need a friend.
