Terry, you're describing my life. I'm exhausted much of the time (save for when I'm kind of manic). I use caffeine and cigarettes as fuel to keep up the facade for those I care about. It's a constant chore and it's draining.

But it's what we have to do for those we love and I think it's worth it.

Now I just need to be able to do it without the caffeine and nicotine.

Terry, it sounds like a mix of depression and anxiety.

This may not be true in your case, but I feel like that when there's something I need to take care of, but have been putting it off. It's like the universe is trying to get my attention and won't let me sleep.

Cyrano, I unwittingly went off coffee for a day and today the caffeine started working again.

I take 60 Mg of Cymbalta and 900 Mg of Lithium . Doc says I am not manic, although I can certainly see the mood swings in myself. they arent manic at all but when I am coming out of the darkness , I can bounce off the walls. I can relax and lay down at night and sleep but there is certainly a manic part to it. I would shout from the rooftops if I were told I had an incurable disease. It is certainly preferrable to living....

I wish my wife could walk in my shoes. She was asking me what has me so depressed. Unless you have been there , you cant explain it. And even if you could, the person you explain it to could never understand it.

Finally got the results of a blood test back. My Lithium level is low so the Doc is going to increase that. B12 is low so that and the depression together will take the wind out of your sails and Vitamin D is also low. Maybe the light is at the end of the tunnel....and it isnt a train...

How large a factor does chronic pain play in depression ? My Psych and my T both say it can be a major part. I have a steroid shot every several months to aleve chronic pain from a herniated disk in my lower back. I have had the herination fixed once and now it has reherniated.

hi Terry... some will know the answer here also, but try the chronic pain forum also ... i know my mom is in chronic pain w/o meds or treatment (unless you count aspirin) and she is heavily depressed... still has good moments though..

for myself... physical pain is a downer becaus it limits my activities.. i feel better when i feel freedom of movement and imagination...
