Good question!
On the one hand, I personally believe I cannot escape the human inclination to divide perceptions into "figure" and "ground", and then to attach "labels" or descriptors to the figure. On the other hand, I try to keep in mind I am doing this. It is important to me to attempt to distinguish simple "labels" from the complex realities behind the labels. I don't want to fool myself into mistaking the label for the entirety of the reality to which I've attached it. All the above goes on inside. When interacting with others, however, my goal is to let them describe - or "label" - themselves any way they want. Then comes ... another long discussion.

I am not much into labeling unless it is a label on a canned good or something like that.
 Truthfully really the only label I like to go by is ME.
