How are you all handling the corona virus. My anxiety is through the roof because of it. Everything is shutting down, the gym I normally go to and helps me a lot, and I expect my therapist and psychiatrist will go on leave for 14 days because of it. I was meant to start in job training, I was so looking forward to it, and that is postponed too.

I don't what to do I'm so restless. I'm so worried about everything How can I survive like this for however long it takes. Right now it's 14 days. I'm having a hard time taking care of myself. My mind is racing what to do.

I'm worried that some people at work will mistake my seasonal hay fever allergies for symptoms of coronavirus and that this could lead to management asking me to stay home. I recently returned from an extended medical absence (due to depression) and cannot afford to miss any more work.

It's a large workplace with around 400-500 people in the building on any given day, so I'm also worried about the possibility of a work stoppage due to public health measures if the outbreak in my province gets any worse. I'm not worried about the disease itself but the potential loss of income if work stops. I really need the money right now.

The whole of Europe is taking measures. For me it means that painting and tango classes are cancelled for the next 4 weeks. They were the only things that still kept me - more or less - going and the only places where I had a certain degree of social contact. I'm facing four weeks of total social isolation.
Possible trigger:

So far no therapy sessions have been cancelled. Not that it would bother me, it makes no difference anyway.

I'm not sure my internet connection allows for that much data transfer (my bundle is called "unlimited" but still ... )

The only way you can get anxiety down is to do relaxation exercises (a lot of them on YouTube). Please try to imagine that we all are connected here at PC. We are holding hands. Try to get some fresh air in a park or similar, but keep distance to other people. To distract play games, use Netflix or something else to focus upon. Lay cabal or something else.

CABAL:
Klondike Solitaire, Turn One - free online card game

A GOOD WEB PAGE TO LEARN TO FOCUS ON SOMETHING ELSE:
CBT Self Help Resources

STOPP SKILL
STOPP skill

Don't forget to scroll down to the STOPP - video at the same page.

It is also possible to load down the STOPP app. I have already done that. My experience is that it is effective.

If you or others feel overwhelmed and cannot reach your therapists, google "Mental health helpline, international telephone number in the EU / EEA " or call (in Europe only) 116 123.

I am in the risk group (have chronic diseases). Only 5 minutes ago I had to do relaxation exercises. I will do them again if necessary.
I'm so glad that I got my hair cut before the hairdressers had to shut down their shops.

Come on, we will do this together! We must try the best we can to not give in now, but to keep the wellness we have already struggled for at the same level!

Good Luck! We are all together and care for each other!

Just smile and tell people immediately after every coughing or whatever is your symptom and say: "It is not Corona, it's my allergy. If that is difficult, please do a rehearsal in front of the mirror at home". They will need to hear thar from you!

Best wishes!

I am planning some outdoor activity---walk in the woods/on the beach---
Rainy and gusty today---may just visit the pond out back and watch the ducks...and be here in my little corner of the world... I have rice and dried beans, baking supplies, in case...not much else.

The crowd at Wal Mart is crazy. Not only toilet paper but also rice and beans completely sold out. I seem to be the only one doing normal shopping. All this for barely over 50 cases in my province.

At work this might be a good idea, but I feel like at the store if I so much as sniffle people will become terrified of me and recoil like a vampire from a cross. I just have to get out of here quickly without making a noise. I can sniffle in peace all I want at home.

I'm having anxiety, too. I'm worried about getting it and for economic collapse. There's some rumor at work that they may require us to work at home for three weeks. I can't work at home. My job requires me to be on site only!

Also the shopping is going to be dreadful, maybe. I dread not having things that I need because of being cleaned out. I can't bring myself to stock up and hoard. There's something about it that doesn't seem right.

I’m not worried about the virus as it’s not rampant yet. But I AM worried about not having toilet paper.

If there is no toilet paper left for me to buy at the store due to people panicking RATHER than a real problem, it says a lot about the ability to create mass hysteria in the United States these days and how much we’ve become a fascist state.

Also, I’m concerned about the xenophobia that is mounting due to the virus originating in China and news outlets using pictures of random Asian people in reports of new coronavirus outbreaks.

I’m sad about major sporting events being canceled, and my dance class has been canceled. Those both help me alleviate depression. I guess it’s safety first, but I really don’t think that we need to be hoarding.

I had to go renew my driver's license today and the underground parking at the mall where the office is located was almost empty. On the rare occasion when I've gone in the past it's always been full, I've had to drive around for thirty minutes looking for a spot. But today I just pulled into one right next to the elevators and went on up. Lines were short and many people were wearing masks. I guess people are avoiding the mall. Then I went to the Wal Mart because I forgot to buy toothpaste yesterday and there were no lines to the registers or self checkouts. Toilet paper, beans, and rice still out of stock. I'm worried about having to use paper towels or something when I run out at home.

I read in the newspaper that China thinks it will have a vaccine by June if we band together as nations. This is only temporary.

I'm beginning to worry about being laid off if things get bad enough long enough here. Lots of businesses that my workplace serves are cutting back due to slowed business, and if they are shuttered completely then who knows what will happen. My seniority might be high enough for me to avoid layoffs, but it might not, it just depends on how bad it gets. I just returned to work after a lengthy medical absence so I really need the money.
