Hey all. I'm putting the pieces of a bad day together. I don't feel anger a lot, but today was full of it and it left me feeling sad and alone afterward. I didn't push anyone away or have an explosion or anything like that. I'm just trying to connect the emotional dots and was wondering what your experiences with depression and anger have been like?

Hi codyrobi welcome to PC. Depression can be a challenge the way you described in your post. It doesn’t take many frustrating obstacles when depressed to produce anger. Then like you mentioned comes the sadness that’s a symptom of depression often from feeling defeated. And even a sense of powerlessness can be in the mix.
I struggled so badly with this challenge it got so I struggled to function and even just wanted to sleep. I finally had to agree to try medication. It’s helped “some” so at least I can sort out the emotions as you describe. With me much of my challenge was due to constant situational life situations that were toxic. What is going on in your life that may be contributing to this challenge? |

I'm a residential employee for what is essentially a boys group home. It's good work, but it's very stressful at times. I feel like my depression has been coming out in irritableness lately instead of sadness

It's hard these past months for so many with this Covid challenge that has changed and challenged so many. This can most definitely contribute to the lonely feeling too. For anyone who already struggles, it tends to only serve to add to the challenge. It's hard enough to manage one's mental health challenge alone, so with all that is going on it just has made it often even more challenging for so many. Add to that the fact that it's an election year as well? Ugh, that tends to create even more stress in the overall societal challenge.
Try to be grateful that you even have a job, even though you have been struggling. So many are struggling so badly right now and don't have a job or can't thrive, it's just been awful. |
