anyone else think that all these parodies poking fun at covid is a bit much?

today, I heard the 12 days of lockdown (parody of 12 days of christmas), and I can't help thinking it's a bit much

all over the world their are people's lives put on hold by the virus, and somewhere in america you've got a group of people who don't care and just make fun of it

is it just me?

I know 2020's been a rough year and we need a laugh and some happy thoughts, but at covid's expense?

Dear ragingvortex,

I am not a big fan of dark humor of any kind. Perhaps, in my case, this is due to my strange love of it when I was younger. I definitely see your point.

Sincerely yours, Yao Wen

i personally am not bothered by this kind of jokes if they're not offensive. However, i can perfecty UnderstAnd other People being bothered by them. Perhaps the best thing to do would be avoiding the kind of People who make these jokes or, if You have to stay with them, ask them to respectfully stop since they bother You. In the human services professions we used to call this sort of thing "gallows humor". There's a place for it. Sometimes it's necessary in order to keep doing what one does knowing, in the long run, it won't really make much of any difference at all. But, of course, as with anything it can be overdone. I haven't personally seen anything of this sort related to the current pandemic situation.
