Being alone is better than being perpetually misunderstood by everyone. I don't think I'll ever have normal, healthy relationships again. Neurotypical people don't have the slightest idea of what its like being autistic, especially in a workplace. Even fewer people understand what it is like to have to medicate myself to the point I am a literal walking pharmacy to get through the workday. Don't believe me? Just try explaining to someone how you had to be prescribed an anti-psychotic (one of many) ON THE JOB to help cope with said job. People just don't get it - and I am tired of trying to explain it.

Dear NonFiction,

What you write is so true. Those who are not autistic have no clue to what it is like from the inside and often lack the intellectual humility to admit it. Only people going through the same things can really understand.

Sincerely yours, Yao Wen

I also think it's true that people so often lack the intellectual humility to admit that they do not understand mental health disorders, including autism. Or to even try to understand It is horrible being misunderstood often. I also think that only people experiencing the same things can really understand.
