Do people on the bus feel that forgiving abusive ''professionals'' is a requirement?

Personal Opinion Only: I respect those whose ethics "require" forgiveness.
I do not believe true forgiveness can be forced. Either it grows and matures on its own or it does not. I cannot "affirm" it into existence. I might be able to drown feelings of unforgiveness in all sorts of mental exercises (mental tricks?) - or substances, but plastering over something is not really erasing it. I prefer to attempt to stand back from the whole situation and consider it in all its complexities, to the extent a very finite individual can.

i am trying to remain in the present...
the past hurts and the future hurts are important
but i need to keep my attention on the present...
that is what my teachers are telling me...

and i need to pay attention to how i am hurting myself...

Of Possible Interest:
Yesterday I listened to a podcast featuring a couple of former police officers. They told lots of stories, and at one point they talked about mental illness. Neither officer suffered from a mental illness, but they spoke about people they dealt with, about fellow officers, and about others they knew who did have various mental illnesses. What caught my attention was their agreement, on the basis of their (non-medical) observations and experiences, how ineffective psych meds seemed to be in resolving mental illness.

It was interesting to get that perspective from an unusual source.

rohag this could be a real good one you brought up...
the model of causation is bio/psy/soc...
the meds may help with the bio...
but do they help with the psy/soc...
and there is a model which adds econ and pol...
but this is a really good post rohag...
