I've been diagnosed with situational depression but things have been slowly getting better. I watched a movie named Call Me By Your Name four days ago and I still feel extremely sad and drained. I don't tell people around me about my situation because it's hard to explain that I only get depressed in very specific points, triggers, and reasons–and I haven't met up with my psychiatrist yet. I don't know, I already know the answer to the title; I'm just wondering if there are people out there who resonate with me... movies like this have always cut deep into me.

If the movie triggered your issue, of course it makes sense to feel more depressed from watching it. I hope you will be able to change your situation and feel better.

Sometimes it happened and i think it is relatively normal if things don't get bad. However, i think your mood can definitely be affected. if you think this may bother you perhaps you can look up information about the films you plan on watching. i Hope things aren't too bad and that they will improve soon for everyone. Let us know if there's something we can do to Help. Please do keep us updated if you can and want to. We are here then. Stay Safe. Do try your Best. Stay Strong. Sending many Safe, warm hugs to BOTH you, @lovableball, your Family, your Friends and ALL of your Loved Ones! Keep fighting and keep rocking NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS, Ok?!

I tend to feel the emotions depending on the movies that I've seen. I watch movies two nights a week (starting around 8:45 PM) on Saturdays & Sundays. If I watch a movie that's upsetting, then it's hard for me to sleep that night and I can even have some dreams about it. I'm very sensitive, so movies that have high emotions or some horror in them get me upset easily. A movie about someone who dies gets me very depressed, especially when it was an ordeal that they went through.

I feel that a good reason I have health anxiety (fearing that my health is going to go even when I feel physically up) is because of a lot of movies and TV shows I have seen. The movies or the shows would feature someone with health issues. One day they have a symptom and then it turns out to be serious. After that, they do well to recover, and then to slip back down again. So many movies and TV shows were like that. The movie "Brian's Song" is a good example of it.

Hi! I hope your doing fine.

I think it's normal. I'm also very sensitive not only to movies, but even books that I read. I generally avoid stories about dogs or animals because it's very painful for me to see scenes where they get injured or die. I love horror movies about ghosts, paranormal activities, zombies, and serial killers, but I don't like horror movies about torture.

I know that sad movies are going to make me down for days, so I just try not to see them. Maybe try and feel how your mood is like before choosing a movie to watch.

Thank you all. I feel extremely seen and unisolated. I just tend to keep these thoughts to myself in fear of being called overdramatic and etc. I know too that it could potentially be because of my situational triggers, I've been feeling good after drinking warm soy milk every morning. I'm doing much better now, solid advice @MickeyCheeky, I wanted to try and be a little adventurous and choose a movie out of a list of different critically-acclaimed movies. I did not expect it to wrench my heart out. The story was utterly beautiful but my heart could not handle the ending.

Again, everyone, I hope y'all are feeling safe and loved. Thank you for this community,

I've experienced this. I don't know if its ''normal'' or not. If it reminds you of things on some level it is probably ''normal''..

If the movie is triggering then it can make you feel that way.
