When you eat or drink something that reminds you of someone you no longer see anymore is that a sign of depression? I eat a lot of Goldfish crackers because my old therapist would eat them. I also have this type of polish Lipton tea I drink called blue fruit because I drank it a lot before the video sessions started in March 2020 and it reminds me of her.
I’m not sure if this is depression or some type of nostalgic behavior Does anyone else do this? __________________ Ridin' with Biden |

In my case, it's not a sign of depression. I do associate some kinds of food and even restaurants with some of my friends and family members. Mostly, I remember their favorite food or snacks we eat together. Sometimes, when I miss them or when I think of them, I crave these snacks. Whenever I have yogurt, I think of my nephew because that's the first thing he looks for in my fridge when he visits me. I eat it when I miss him. Smint reminds me of my friend who was my business partner before because we always had it when we went to client meetings.

This may be a bit of a trigger warning
But I was having an episode in the adolescent unit of a psych hospital in 2007 and I was restrained to the bed and then my vitals dropped so I was just lying there for like an hour and I had the blood pressure cuff just left on my arm and the staff who was watching me would get up every 15 minutes and would take my vitals and then give me sips of red Gatorade. And I just remember feeling so sick both physically and mentally. Now whenever I think of red Gatorade it reminds me of that incident. I still drink it. You’d think it would bring back bad memories. It’s on my grocery list actually. Now, strawberry Fanta, that brings back really bad memories and I can’t drink it. I’ve only had about 3 or 4 bottles in the last 14 years. __________________ Ridin' with Biden |
