Joining a casual get-together is not an obligation. However you do want to get out for important self-care matters. I would think an eye appointment falls under that heading. Try to keep the appointment.
Staying home when you need to as part of your stress management can be a good thing. But if it's snowballing into actual agoraphobia, you need to fight against that. It's all about empowering yourself to the max. Going out vs staying home should be choices you make freely, not choices that are made for you by exaggerated fears. |

I'm feeling calmer about the appointment today. I think I can make it. I've been listening to calming music. I've had less anxiety overall.

Good for you, Deilla! It's bad enough that discouraging people make us want to avoid them. Don't let that discouragement demoralize you to where you neglect what you want to do for you.
I went Thurs for a medical appointment that I really felt like canceling. I had already rescheduled it once. I told myself to just put one foot in front of the other and to not cancel until the last possible moment. I gave myself permission to bow out, if I felt I needed to at the last minute. I ended up going. Now I'm so glad I got that accomplished. Refusing to give up on things can get to be a good habit. You build up those internal muscles that make us strong in the face of what life throws at us. |
