Of course I don't know how things work where you live. But where I live all psychiatrists (and other doctors as well when it comes to antidepressants) do is to prescribe and monitor medications. When I see my pdoc, every 3 months or so, I'm typically in-and-out in less than 10 minutes. I don't see a therapist myself. But if I wanted to, I'd have to find one myself. Perhaps that's what you need to do as well? By the way, I can relate to what you wrote about not wanting to talk to your wife so as not to worry her. I don't talk about any of my mental health concerns with my wife either.

It sounds like you are suffering alone, which is difficult, and possible. Some possible things that could help are the standard responses, get outside , exercise for 5 minutes or more, write how you feel, learn something new, make a goal, or even talk to someone as a friend that you feel is supportive.
Anything you can do to support yourself is amazing, and supportive to your family as well. And you know your situation best, keep that in mind. |
