I’m in a mental hospital right now. I don’t trust the pdoc. Somehow I managed to sneak pills into my room. I want to overdose on them. I don’t feel like talking to the other patients here. I feel like they don’t like me. And also there are cameras everywhere in this ward, I’m sure of that. I just want to get out of here and I’m scared. Thanks for reading. I just wanted to vent

Try to hang in there, Lucky. If you can get out of there, something better might be waiting for you on the outside.

Hi lucky: I've been where you are twice. I didn't talk to any of the other patients. And none of them talked to me. I just wanted to get out of there as well. But I was on an involuntary hold. So I couldn't leave until they discharged me. (And they weren't in any particular hurry to do so.) What actually worked for me, in terms of getting out as quickly as possible, was a relative contacted my health insurance company and the health insurance company in turn contacted the hospital. Once that happened it was amazing how quickly I was released.

You wrote you feel like overdosing. But the likelihood is you'll survive that. And, since you managed to sneak pills into your room, you'll be where you are even longer. I know you just want to get out of there and you're scared. I felt the same way. But overdosing on the pills you have isn't the way to do it. The way to do it is to demonstrate, through how you act and what you say, that you're okay.

During one of my hospitalizations the pdoc who was in charge told me one thing they look for, as a sign the patient is ready to be discharged, is that the patient expresses a feeling of being ready to return to the outside world. So perhaps doing whatever it is the staff want you to do and expressing a feeling of being ready to return to the world, may be the best way to get you back where you want to be. (Perhaps you could even talk about feeling scared?)

The other thing you might consider, if it's available to you, would be a partial hospital program. I attended one, following my first discharge. It wasn't exactly enlightening, I wouldn't say. But it gave me a place to be, and something to do, so that I didn't simply go home to face the same circumstances that caused me to end up in the hospital to begin with. And that was beneficial.

Best wishes...

Thanks for replying. I think I will be discharged next week. I’ll try to do the things you mentioned. I just want to get out of here
