Basically I will fall asleep but its only for 3 / 4 hours and i feel like a hyper active toddler, i just can't get my brain to rest and shut down.. I can't relax

I can't even try to identify what the problem is obviously people always say what is causing all of this but sure if i knew myself what was causing it, id try to solve it. The truth is I don't know. The problem is that its affecting my life, my social life, my routine because I feel so tired and lethargic all through the day and i don't want to work out or go out.

I am absolutely sick of it. You would think that my body will Just want to rest but it never changes, every day is the same story.

I am so sorry you are suffering this sleep disturbance. Sleep is so important to our health and anything that messes it up can be demoralizing.

Have you discussed your situation with a licensed physician? Sometimes there can be organic causes or factors involved in sleep problems and sometimes there are medical treatments that can lead to good outcomes. I have suffered many kinds of sleep problems over the years and physicians have helped me enormously. Of course, I am not in your shoes and cannot know what will or will not help you in your unique situation. Wish I knew how help. It can be really heartbreaking to have sleep problems!

I'm waiting for a referral at the minute so hopefully they can prescribe me something to help me relax at night. I am working out too and still can't even manage to get 8 hour sleep so obviously i need to be medicated.

Welcome! Sorry that you're having this sleep disturbance. There may be some detective work involved before you find the cause, so be gentle with yourself.

The same thing was happening to me for a few weeks but then stopped. Never figured out why. But maybe it was due to having coffee too late in the day.

I do have sleep apnea (in which I stop breathing during sleep). It's mostly due to obstruction, and I use a machine to keep the airway open. But I still stop breathing sometimes, and I figure I might also wake up in a panic at these times.

Too much sugar right before bedtime can cause me to wake up too early, too, because (it was explained to me) my blood sugar crashes. Low blood sugar makes me jittery during the day, and I feel the same way when I wake up at 3am sometimes.

Good luck!
