so, before I start this, I'm not actually suicidal.

I just am struggling to find reasons why I should bother living to the new year

apart from anything else, I'm sick of people telling me oh things will be better, things will be better, every year. trust me, they have been saying that to me since 2011 and every year is 10 times worse. things don't improve, especially when you don't even have family and friends supporting you.

so yeah. reasons why 2025 will be different. go.

Nobody should be telling you things will be better. There's no guarantee they will. it might be worse. I think a lot of whether it gets better or not is up to you. What is your 5 year goal? Or break it down to smaller bits. What do you want to change before 2025?
You need a purpose. That's why I get depressed. Everyone needs a purpose and a reason to get out of bed in the morning. Mine were my sons. I need one now for myself. I'm trying to figure it out. Life is suffering. Life isn't fair. It's up to us to find some resources and reach for help, and find something to keep us going in the meantime. I wish you the best... I haven't had coffee yet, so not wide awake, but I will check your thread for a response.

Hi @emily1890 I think I understand.

I agree with @Violetta75 . I personally hate the four-letter G-word, but setting even a few small goals for the day can built momentum.

A famous figurehead said something like, "The path to happiness is through service to others." Is there something nice you can do for an individual or the community that you might also enjoy?

The scale can be really small. My wife and I used to bring old egg cartons to our public library. They'd use them for crafts. All that we had to do was save up a few or a dozen and then drop them off.

Even posting here is helpful. There's a thread about how inactive the site has become. Well, surprise, you've made it a little more active!
