Hi. I would appreciate any ideas on how to combat the depressive symptom of loss of interest in enjoying activities.
All I do is lay on my couch, my comfort zone. I want to enjoy the stuff I enjoyed! I want to enjoy my life! Cheers |

I try less stressful versions of my former activities. Like i used to play competitive Scrabble at a club in person and it was very intense, i lived for my rating and ranking. Now i just play at home on my phone against an AI with the level set very low so i win every game.
I also developed new low-stress interests, like poking around the Internet for jokes. Laughter is the best medicine. I also like watching favorite shows and movies and comedy specials over and over. I really like musical comedian Bo Burnham's "INSIDE" on Netflix. He's got some stuff on YouTube too. "Welcome to the Internet" is from "INSIDE." I don't feel well enough for new material but i have a high tolerance for repetition of old favorites. Favorite novels too. Spending time in nature helps too. Trying to be mindful of the wide open sky, the giant trees, the ruffling bushes, the pretty flowers, the refreshing breeze -- it's very rejuvenating. Hope this helps! Another low-stress version of a former interest is attending my support group's ZOOM social hour instead of going in to the drop-in in person. I don't have to leave my home and if it gets unpleasant with one person hogging the time, i just quit.

I do pretty much what you do.
I didn't make decisions, don't project the bad feelings into the future and don't fully myself into doing the things that interest me. Basically, I "hold still" and wait for it to pass. Sometimes it takes a few hours,a few days, or it can stretch into weeks like it happening to me now. If I absolutely have to do something, I'm break it apart into much smaller and more manageable pieces. __________________ * Dx: Unspecified Bipolar and Related Disorder * Rx: Remeron, Prozac, Klonopin My avatar picture is a photo of the Whirlpool Galaxy I took in April 2023.
