I recently had to quite my psych. I can't afford $90 a visit anymore. I have enough meds squirreled away for about another month (90mg Cymbalta XL/day, Deplin 7.5 mcg/day). He was great, supplying me with samples so my budget could sustain the cost.
I go up and down alot, even with the meds, but am a staunch believer in chemical intervention as well as group support

I've since run out of the Deplin, so I now take 400mcg/day Folic Acid as a replacement. My real fear is when I run out of the Cymbalta, which I will have to try to replace with some kind of OTC concoction.
I've researched many of the popular reportedly natural OTC depression meds (St. John Wort, Inositol, Mega B vitamins, 5-HTP, Skullcap, Ginseng, and other 'patent medicine' claimers).
I fear I'm starting down a long dark road (I've been down it before and there is no light at the end )......
I'm rambling on, I don't even know what I really wanted to say when I started.......what a knucklehead

What about looking into financial aid? I'm sure there are many people here who have had experiences trying to financially afford medication when they were broke ... actually, I think a post was made in Drug Questions a few months ago with a program for USA citizens that was sort of a "drug plan". Perhaps posting there for ideas would be a good idea?

sometimes drug companies will give you your meds for free or reduced cost. I think montel has a program on that.

Look here for help with Cymbalta. Also, if you doctor was giving you samples, he has the ability to obtain what are called stock bottles that are for this purpose. You may have to fill out forms and provide income (or lack of) proof, but it is available. Good luck.
