oh that's not good. did you have a bad day today? Loneliness is a hard thing. Do you have anyone around you? I only ask because I physically am not alone, but I get lonely, too. What plans do you have for tomorrow? I was supposed to take my girls to a nature preserve, but I'll have to finish working and then my youngest has karate.

I'm sorry your roommate is gone. gone for the whole weekend? It's hard being alone--that's when thoughts and such seem to hit. Anything you like to do that can make you feel better?

Have you been drawing long? I have zero artistic talent! My oldest daughter can play almost every musical instrument there is, my mother can sew everything from baby clothes to quilts to wedding dresses and I can do none of it! How's it going with drawing the feelings?

I am soooo sorry that I didn't get a chance to say goodnight and see how you were doing!!! I can't decide whether it was like a comedy or horror show around my house last night!!! I don't know if you've read or not, but I have "critters" in my house--really, really intelligent mice...or something! These things have unwrapped a loaf of bread, dug a hole in my carpet, moved a mouse trap and I'm pretty sure they have stood outside my bedroom door laughing and pointing (and if you go to the thread war, you'll see them roasting marshmallows). Anyways, I have two dogs that come in at night so they don't get frostbite on their cute little noses and I've borrowed my parents cat to try to catch these things (sorry folks, a month of humane trying is my limit!). So it was nice and quiet in here when all of a sudden there is a horrible crash in my kitchen, my dog jumps up off my lap, the cat runs out there, the other dog comes from down the hall, my laptop falls to the floor. One dog starts chasing the cat, I'm tring to get up when the cat runs across my back, followed by the dog attempting to while the other dog is barking. I make it to the kitchen to find the lid to my snowman cookie jar laying on the cupboard broken and no critter anywhere to be found. Get everyone calmed down, the cat down from the top of the bookshelf, the dog that chased it there in my room, my cookie jar cleaned up and thrown away , my laptop picked up, turned back on and where's the internet cord????? (For a time I think the mice probably took it to hook up to their little mouse computer, then I wonder what they would call their computer mouse--a human?) ANYWAY, I finally find the cord in a tangle of others that the dog-chasing-the-cat mess created and notice I'm bleeding. Not gushing, but enough to make me swear! The cat had scratched my shoulder while evading the dog. So by the time I got everything cleaned up I just flopped right in bed and I am so sorry---please forgive me for not at least seeing how you were and saying goodnight. Not very good support person. I do hope you are ok. How'd the drawing go? I understand if you feel that you can't rely on me anymore, but if you do need to talk again and you want to, please just let me know.

How are you feeling this morning? Did you draw much last night? Do you draw in color or charcoal?

oh wow that was pretty scary have you tried setting poison baits around your house? At my old home we used to have them to, my mom sets baits and those sticky things aroud the house and with the help of my kitten who used to bring the on my bed we caught alot. good luck getting rid of those mice. no need to apologize I fell asleep to. I'm feeling a bit better now, maybe I really need meds to help me.

sounds like you had an eventful night
made me smile and giggle though

I_miss_my_Kitty... I love drawing/painting... it's a great escape sometimes don't you think? I stopped for a long time (partly due to health, party due to my perfectionism and the fact that NOTHING in the world was going right and gave up on the artwork) but yeh, recently started again and wow have I missed it.
Have you ever thought of selling any?
take care,
Molly

You might want to try....after all, we are our own harshest critic! You never know who you'll touch with something you've done!

cantstopcrying is right... I put myself down about my work, I don't believe anyone would want to buy it... but (I have a couple of pieces on the mantelpiece in the front room... a painting of a famous/local place and a drawing of me and my brothers when we were young) everyone that visits the house, my mum 'has to!' tell them that I did them and the amount of compliments is scary, of course I have my doubts as to wether they're being nice or not... but I often finish a painting/drawing and think "nah, that's not great", that's just the way I am, a perfectionist and modest.

Hi - I am new here. I have a 21 year old college student and a 15 year old daughter - both with depression. My daughter copes by running (she says it is the only thing that helps her escape her mind). She runs at 5:30 a.m. and after school. My son says lifting weights is what he gets up for (even if it is 2 0'clock - that is fine ). Seems to be a strong connection between neurotransmitters and exercise. It is a gift to society that you are going to major in psychology. It would be wonderful to actually talk with therapists who "get" depression. My kids have never had someone who has lived with depression to counsel them. My daughter loves to write too (brain fog is sometimes a problem) and to draw, play her guitar and write songs. You are not alone. As a mom of a daughter and a college student - please know you are loved and admired and needed.
