Saw my pdoc today. It seems we (the latest medication) defeated the cyclic mood swings that affected me for years, so no longer deep bouts of depression. However, I was screened from perception of reality, because I was low or high depending on period, regardless of what was going on. So now I am more influenced by reality. And since my current routine is crap, I feel like crap. No enraging depression, but everlasting sadness , increased anxiety and minor obsessive episodes (a new entry).
At this point I have to put greater effort in therapy, and by all means sleep more(since I work that much, I can only get 5 hours, while at least 7 are necessary, and it is vital to be asleep between midnight and 2 AM).
Then in a few months we'll be able to esteem the final outcome of my current medication (it will be one year since I started it).
My pdoc gives a lot of explanations, I like that.

I know my pdoc always insisted that I get enough of the right kind of sleep each night. In the long run it has helped with the severe mood swings.

What I can't seem to get rid of is the feeling of sadness that is my constant companion. Sometimes it rises to the surface and the thought of doing anything takes and enormous amount of effort.

I can sometimes suppress the sadness turn my concentration to something I'm working on at the moment. Or by keeping in touch with friends. (hint, hint)

The holidays are a rough time of year for all, happy, sad, or otherwise so I can understand how it is more difficult. I sincerely hope you are able to progress through the next process.

I'm glad your pdoc explains things. Mine does too. Of course it is not always what I want to hear but at least he is honest.

Best of luck
