Has anybody had any luck getting their student loans discharged? I am on SSDI and long term disability from my former employee. If so how does one find a doctor who is knowledgeable in filling out the form? Are there any websites regarding what a doctor must say for the Department of Education to discharge these loans? I don't see myself ever working again.

you have to call the student loan people and get them to send you a form for the dr to fill out and send back to them. dr needs to state you are totally and permantenly disabled

I have had my student loans discharged and like bebop said they will send you a form and a form for your doctors. You have to really prove that you can't do anything and yes I'm on SSDI also and I had to do the fore barance(sp?) the first couple of times and then I finally got them taken care of. However, IF you decide to ever return to school they will go back and pick up what you owed and tack that onto your next bill.
So make sure you do not want to ever go back...... Good Luck, ![]()
