the neurologist I saw diagnosed me as having a mild cognitive disorder, amnestic type, he said it can lead to Alzhemier's, which is a condition I would like to avoid. Is there anyway to put off, avoid, development of this disease?

They do make medications to slow the development of cognitive dysfunction. Doctors generally prescribe them to mild or moderate amnesiac conditions.

I second bebop's advice to talk with your doctor. Best wishes to you!

They have come up with new medications that slow the memory loss. As an aside, the Omega3's also help with memory even though they are not part of those new medications....the thing is that they are natural & they can't hurt anything if you take them on top of any thing else your Dr might suggest.

I would also suggest not just going to any neurologist but one that specialized in alzheimers so that you can really get the valuable guidance that would really help you at this point. Might as well do as much preventative actions as possible.

have been taking fish oil and many other preventive measures, but have to see specialist. Really afraid re some memory issues, tho I know that lots of stress can aggravate memory loss. Please pray, send positive thoughts, hold me in the light, whatever you are comfortable with, etc. I'm pretty concerned! Thanks, tho other than this issue, am just fine. 61 y o and worried

Aricept, generic is donezepil helped me get back from the abyss about a year and half ago. No side effects for me. 5 mg each day, I likely should be on. 10 mg daily by now.
I had to ask my pdoc for it, as my cognitive deficits were not readily apparent to others.
Well worth it. As eskielover also said, high quality omega 3 with a higher LPAHA,
as much as 7:1. Good luck and keep us posted.

That is DHA and not a smiley face, which cannot be removed.
