I have been cheating like a mad man too. I see my endo on Wednesday. I got blood work last week and I know my A1C is going to be higher than last time I was there. Hopefully it's not over 7.

I finally got a decent result on a fasting blood sugar reading - 146! Its not great, but its back in the neighborhood im more used to. Yesterdays meals were coffee and bananas for breakfast, lunch was a dole caesar chopped salad with added pumpkin seeds and dried mixed berries but half the dressing plus canned turkey on 3 slices very thin pepperidge farm white, dinner was libbys canned roast beef (gravy rinsed off) on 2 slices same bread and half cup canned pineapple. No exercise. Took me a week on weight watchers to get here, cutting carbs, increasing protein.

I am trying to find a diet - a way of eating - that is do-able, and doesnt have me literally dreaming of food cuz im so hungry at night! And that supports some exercise, and decreases my fat stores, and lowers my blood sugar. 3 out of 5 so far!

I went off the rails and ate shortbread biscuits coated in sugar and I had a knickerbockers glory ice creme at the desserts store. My sugar level is back up to 370 or 20.6,which is really high and quite unacceptable.I have to tell myself that I can do this and I can and will do it.I can control what is in my mouth and what I consume,I am the only one in charge and I have to go in the right direction where I am losing weight and lowering my blood sugars. There must be no more excuses. No cheat days.

I must come back off 100% no sugar products ,no biscuits or ice creme and I must stay off pub meals which are fattening high calorie foods, and at the cafe I have to say no to toasted crumpets and butter treats. At home I must cut down on bread and fried foods. There can be no more excuses.I have to do this and succeed.

I want to get my blood sugars down to 144 in the next ten days. And I want to lose at least 12 pounds in weight by then too.

Don't beat yourself up to badly we all have cheat days. Just get yourself back up and try again. I know you can do it.

So today I stuck to a healthy eating plan.My sugar levels are approx 180 before I eat but after food they shoot up to 360,how can I get the after dinner readings to be much lower?

I started my 1200 calories diet today. It is so very important I stay off the sweet junk foods like cakes, chocolate and ice creme.I found out today my urine creatine is 14.7 and my creatine ratio 7.6 this is bad, they found protein in my urine at 1880,this is an abnormal result and indicated early kidney damage.I found out online that trials have shown early kidney damage can be reversed by taking 300mg Vitamin B1 thiamine a day,so I am going to try that.

Today I ate porridge for breakfast with a strawberry and blueberries. Then I had chicken and sweetcorn soup for lunch. For dinner I had a salmon fillet baked in the oven with sweet potato, french beans, peas and broccoli with a little olive oil and lemon.

Sticking to a 1200 calorie a day diet means I will lose weight quite quickly, less weight means my sugar levels should come down as well as my blood pressure which is good for my kidneys.

I am optimistic that I can make the improvements I need to.I have been out of control with my eating habits for years. Now I take back my power and am in control of what I eat and am responsible for healing my body,I can and will do this.

Marylin great job!! 😊
My wife is trying a new setting on her gastric pacemaker. First 3 days she felt absolutely miserable, but hopefully there is improvement to come. I'm glad the snow has eased up as we have to drive to the next city over for her eye surgery on Tues. Hopefully that goes smoothly.
Keep up the great work everyone!

I went to see the diabetic nurse yesterday. She was pleased,my blood sugar levels have come down from the 360's to around 180.I also lost 15 pounds in weight,so I and the nurse were really pleased. So the blood sugar levels should come down even more as I lose weight,I am on the right track,so I got to stick with the program. It is so satisfying to see the numbers for both the scales and the blood sugar readings come down.

That is great, marylin! My scale is also down a bit, down the next five or so, not a decade yet. It's fluctuating down. My scale doesnt usually fluctuate "down", IYKWIM. My sugar is staying around 180, plus or minus 10.

I ordered pizza the other day, but with "thin and crispy" crust, and NO pepperoni. The calorie count was like one fourth for 270. I used to have a rule that, i could only eat something if i could do the total calorie calculation in my head!

I am trying to stick to 1200 calories also. I am still fridgeless. I am now also breadless. I am feeling much better, and i think im looking a LITTLE less round.

I think this thread is really helping me. I finally found something im sticking to, knock on wood.
