I started Trulicity on Tuesday night , its a once a week injectable. She kept me on the glipizide, and actos.
The bigger change is my pdoc agreed to stop the Seroquel, the likely culprit that got the DM2 rolling. I was put on Saphris in its place along with geodon. The Trulicity made me fatigued fast but it passed, and i feel better now. I took my 2nd of 3 classes for diabetes, today label reading yikes!! __________________ Tams https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Whgn_iE5uc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6FOUqQt3Kg0 YOU LAUGH BECAUSE I AM DIFFERENT, I LAUGH BECAUSE YOU ARE ALL THE SAME Don't only practice your Art, But force your way through into its secrets, For it and Knowledge can Raise men to the Divine. Hi Tamster. I have been taking Trulicity for a few months now. The nausea was really bad at the start but seems to have lessened as time goes on. I find it has been really good a keeping me feeling fuller for longer. Plus it did decrease my BSLS.
Only issue I have now is forgetting to take the top off before injecting myself. That normally means that less that a full dose gets in. Grrr. Silly possum. |

Possum i am sorry you had nausea but good to hear it got better. I watched a youtube vid on doing the injection so i knew to take the top off. I had no nausea with the first shot but was fatiqued for that night and the next day. But at the same time i was withdrawing from seroquel and introducing saphris, so its hard to be sure what caused that feeling.
my fasting this morning was much better, about 120 and the day before it was 223 so maybe its helping. Warmest regards, Tams __________________ Tams https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Whgn_iE5uc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6FOUqQt3Kg0 YOU LAUGH BECAUSE I AM DIFFERENT, I LAUGH BECAUSE YOU ARE ALL THE SAME Don't only practice your Art, But force your way through into its secrets, For it and Knowledge can Raise men to the Divine. Today I spent time with my chosen family for christmas. I was given two large boxes of chocolates and a box of fudge. Oh and I forgot two jars of homemade jam.
As a chocoholic and a diabetic it makes it hard. Grrr. There is so much of it around. I suppose it's the same with alcohol this time of year. Surrounded by it and not able to say no. Ai Ai Ai.......... it's hard enough to control what I eat without the added food in the house. Previous times I have thrown food in the bin....... then hours later I go bin diving. |

I think my new med the trulicity is starting to work i had a bs of 115 today, it was a late day fasting because i ate early in the morning and didn't eat until late after 8pm. but all the same it was 115. This morning it was 190 so a nice drop. i am sure the other meds helped out too. At least i hope so. Possum220 i know those treats are hard to pass up , maybe just a dab of jam on toast and skip the chocolates. Listen to me i cheat all the time, i am here if you want to talk it thru. hugs, Tams __________________ Tams https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Whgn_iE5uc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6FOUqQt3Kg0 YOU LAUGH BECAUSE I AM DIFFERENT, I LAUGH BECAUSE YOU ARE ALL THE SAME Don't only practice your Art, But force your way through into its secrets, For it and Knowledge can Raise men to the Divine. I bought a crate of werthers sugar free soft caramels. I HAVE to limit myself to one serving - 5 pieces, 90 kcal - per day, or else there are consequences! Otoh, 5 candies over the course of a day is a LOT compared to nothing! But i need to check their effect on my fasting blood sugar. Having one or two when i have a middle of the night pee break so far is lowering it slightly.

This week I managed to inject the Trulicity properly. Trulicity really does slow down the appetite. According to my doctor my bsl meter has died so I am not able to check my blood sugar levels atm. Does that let me off the hook? I am just kidding myself if I think it does. Today I had a fruit mince pie with lunch. I cheat all the time Tamster. I wish I could be good but obviously not enough to stop. Least I haven't touched the chocolates or fudge today. Maybe it's a food hangover from yesterday.
It is good that the Trulicity is working for you Tamster. Yay. How big is a crate of werthers caramels unaluna? I have tried sugar free peppermints and if I overdo it on those there are dire consequences. |

I think its about ten bags, each bag has 2 and a half servings. So its virtually limitless. Meaning, it MUST last more than a week.
I think i might try to train myself not to procrastinate with these guys. Because you CAN reward yourself, but just with ONE. |

I am afraid I fell off the wagon and my blood sugar has gone up to 27.8 which is 500mg.
It has gone sky high cos I ate chocolate covered profriterols and I drank advocaat and prosecco. I also ate a roast dinner and stuffing and had white flour French stick with soup. So not good compared to when my blood sugar came down to 6mmol/L or 108mg. So tomorrow I go back to my strict diet and back to staying off the sugar. |

You give me hope Marilyn. It's not an easy thing to do but you are doing it.
It's T day here. Need to remember to take that darn cap off before injecting. Also time to clean out the fridge. There are a few shades of grey in there. |

Managing to stay off the sugar for the majority of the time have had a couple of slip ups drank fruit juice and had a chocolate bar
and also once in the last two moths I had two slices cake, vegan raspberry and chocolate cake from Starbucks,it's delicious. I kinda think it's ok to allow it once every three months. My blood sugar is averaging 180mg or 10 mmol/L.So I still have to get it down. |

Hello one and all. Hope you are all tracking well.
Trulicity makes me so very tired and often thirsty. It is hard to keep the water up to stay on top of it. A little while back I had a blood test done and they just got enough blood to do the one test. Tomorrow I am getting my quarterly BAC1 levels checked and a few other yearly ones that my gp wants done. I will need to drink heaps from now to make sure there is enough blood to get. Good news is that since I wrote about it here I have successfully injected myself with the Trulicity each time. How are you all going? |

I got my blood sugars down again after the Christmas blip.Having a diabetic review done next week, where they will do blood test to check my AHC1's
hopefully it will be an improvement of the 14.7 of last time and my cholesterol was high too.Let's see what the result s are when they come back. My readings last two days were between 180 and 144,it varies it can go up to 270,but mostly keeping it down. It is much better than before November last year when I was constantly in the 480 and my eye sight was at risk with diabetic macular.I urge you all that have type 2 diabetes to gain control of your blood sugars to avoid losing your sight and other complication.I have gained control of my eating habits and sugar addictions so that is good progress. |

I am pleased that you were able to get past your Christmas blip Marilyn . It is not an easy thing to do. Hmm.. losing eyesight would be a dreadful thing. How did you get control of your eating habits and sugar addiction?

Possum, once I understood that I was addicted to sugar, and also when I understood the damage that the sugar was doing to my eyes,I stopped eating sugary treats every day,I focused on my blood sugar levels and readings and getting them down lowers and losing weight.I am not saying it is easy though but it can be done and knowing my eye sight was in danger motivated me.I understand my sugar addiction now and how to break the vicious cycle of eating it and wanting more and more and more...I guess I took a long time to learn my lesson.generally now most days I don't eat anything much with added sugar,I allow it only once in a long while. And no more fruit juices.

I went to see my GP to check in with my blood tests. Mostly everything was good. My iron levels are low but not not low enough to have an iron infusion. My average BAC1 levels are above 8.2 so I was given the next three months to make a concerted effort to get it lower or go on insulin.
My stress levels are already through the roof at the moment. Insurance issues and a house inspection. I just want the whole world to go away. |

Yesterday I went grocery shopping. I didnt buy any jelly beans or candy. No biscuits. All of the Christmas cake is gone. I went through three Christmas cakes over three months. My house contains no sugary foods. Yay. I do hope that by not eating that stuff that my blood sugar levels drops and that I can avoid the insulin.

Well done Possum,if you aren't eating sugar products your blood sugars will come down most certainly, that's what I did and I halved my sugar levels.
You are better not to go on insulin, the insulin makes you ravenous and you will want to eat everything in sight all day long. When I went on insulin I gained 42 pounds. My sugar levels weren't brought down by insulin cos I was craving foods and eating them the blood sugar levels stayed sky high.It was the worse thing I coud do to go on insulin. |
