So comes out I had an ulcer. It didn't give me any symptoms, part from I got really, really anemic. Like breaking the blood bank anemic. So got blood, got examined, and now I have to take antacids, see how long I can tolerate them, they are horrid!
But also, now I have no pain management since I'm not allowed to use naproxen. Or any NSAID. Only Tylenol which does nothing. I'm not gonna take it because it's just a burden on my organs and it has no effect at all. Now I don't have constant pain, but for pain spells I have nothing. I suggested a few pills of codeine a month. Doc said we don't prescribe those meds anymore. I mean I know they do, but mostly to very severely injured people. Not to people who just claim pain. I used to not think the naproxen was enough, now I miss it. I'm really looking forward to bad pain days and crying from pain, and yea it takes a lot from me to cry. Good heavens. __________________ |

Dear -jimi-
I am so very sorry that you are suffering pain and do not have access to effective medications. That is so heartbreaking! I can't even imagine what you must be going through! -- Sincerely yours, -- Yao Wen |

TY for replying... Been driven to the black market again. This is so wrong. But now we have really good stats for "addictive" medication because basically no one gets them. And the number of people getting them illegally and taking them without a doctor is skyrocketing, and we're starting to have tons of deaths in people below 30 because of this. You never know when you get a deadly dosage of Fentanyl instead of what you think you purchased. I hope all "responsible prescribers" (no codeine, no benzos, no Ambien and now.... no gabapentin!) will end up in a specific pain/anxiety hell.

Did the doctor say anything about taking antibiotics to heal your ulcer?

I've been told not to take NSAIDS either. I don't have an ulcer, though. I still take them sometimes--but try to take them with food and take the ones that have a coating on them.
What are they doing to heal your ulcer? |

I am glad that you will ask for an antibiotic. Mylanta should help with the pain but the antibiotic will heal the wound. If your doctor wont prescribe antibiotic then I would be asking why.

I don't have stomach pain, I have pain from joints and soft tissue as a result of a chronic illness. Like today, I'm just in bed trying to push the pain out of my head. I take max dosage Tylenol but it's not really very helpful. Not sure how I'm gonna live my life. When I asked about not being allowed to take NSAIDs, they were all but Tylenol helps as well! It does NOT! I asked for codeine for the worst days but they of course told me they don't prescribe that to new patients anymore. They are super restrictive here.

Is finding a new doctor possible? When I first moved here and saw my current GP (going on 19years ago, it took me 9 months to find a doc), she would only give me codeine in small quantities but as she got to know me, she increased the amount and the dosage. She now gives me percocet for my chronic pain and I'm on gabapenten and nortriptyline for diabetic neuropathy and sciatic pain. I also smoke marijuana from time to time to ease the pain (legal here). I am allergic to ASA, so cannot take
NSAIDS, which is a big bummer as I'm sure they would help w/ inflammation. I hope you find some relief and are doing better now. |

In my experience Tylenol is entirely useless, except for young children.
I have never suggested to anyone that they find a new doctor, but I'm suggesting it for you to consider. __________________ |

Just chiming in- I think I was given some med that they don't like to prescribe but this was in the hospital after I had a liver biopsy. After I woke up, it didn't hurt and they offered me the pain med so I said no, but then after another 10 minutes I said, "I'll take the pain med now". Who knew that stabbing your liver with a needle could hurt so much?
I, too, can't take NSAIDS, and Tylenol is useless for me, too. I had a migraine at the hospital once and all they gave me was Tylenol. I KNOW for a fact that there is some cocktail that they can give me to abort a migraine that doesn't have any addictive medication in it but they just wanted to go the easy route and give me stupid Tylenol. __________________ Ingrezza 80 mg Propranolol 40 mg Benztropine 1 mg Vraylar 1.5 mg, Gabapentin 300 Mania Sept/Oct 2024 Mania (July/August 2024) Mania (December 2023) Mixed episode/Hypomania (September 2023) Depression, Anxiety and Intrusive thoughts (September 2021) Depression & Psychosis (July/August 2021) Mania (April/May 2019) |

Jimi, out of curiosity, is your pain muscle cramping? If so, I might suggest trying a spray called Theraworx. My husband used to go into muscle spasms that were horrid, and this was really helpful - completely over-the-counter.

After three years I was finally diagnosed. I was dismissed so many times, and if the medicals did anything, they did labs. No one even checked my body. When one did, she saw at once what ailed me. I had broken my back. That is why I had all that pain. Usually compression fractures are small and will heal, mine were bad and I have shrunk 9 centimeters from the vertebrae just flattening, three of them.
Was finally given oxy, which I hated and talked them into giving be a buprernorphine patch. It's way too weak, but I get what I get. Luckily it is a substance that is on the black market. Not that I recommend people that route. I don't have it, only other pain pills. They do help a bit, but not as much as I want. I've now been having this pain for four years. It's kind of harsh. Put my life on hold, since it drained me of energy, for a while I slept 23 hours a day. But just getting a diagnosis helped, now they cannot say I imagine it. __________________ |

Have you tried liquids nsaids. Taken with a good bit of water you might not have any problems.

People who take NSAID should always take a stomach med at the same time. I had no clue. __________________ |

Do you have a pain management specialist?

Yeah guys NSAiDS, most particularly ibuprofen will like hitting your digestive tract with a Javelin (Anti-Tank Missile). Okay for occasional use but not as a regular basis kind of thing.
My primary oncologist throws pain medication at me as he he is pitching a baseball. I am afraid with his constant needling me on switching to 0.75 Mcg Fentanyl patches, it's strike 3 he's out. I told him on the phone earlier this morning if he thought they were so great to commence sticking those patches all over himself. To especially not miss his mouth...lol... that's all I hear from him. What happened to the old maxim, if it's not broken don't fix it. The Morphine 100 mg CR is working just fine, well mostly. So, he can keep his patches of Rip Van Winkle, I sleep enough as it is. Last edited by 16PennyNail; Apr 19, 2024 at 03:18 PM.. |
